Michael's Rose

Heather Beliveau's Winning Film

Burlington College student Heather Beliveau won the best film at Berklee School of Music... The Learning Center at Berkeley website writes:

Film Scoring Contest 5 Showcase
The last part of the Music for Film Networking event was the 5th annual Film Scoring Contest Finalists' Showcase and Awards Ceremony. For the first time in its history the contest movie was provided by a student filmmaker. Heather Beliveau (director of contest film Michael's Rose) from Burlington College, came along with faculty and filmmaker Allan Nichols, and cast and crew from the film Jarrod Collins and Ryan Hardy. Also in attendance from Berklee were film scoring faculty Michael Sweet and Sheldon Mirowitz.

With 60 entries to the contest this year, the caliber and talent on display was fantastic. Each of the seven finalists, whose scores were premiered, shared with the audience their interpretation of the movie and creative process when composing their scores. The winners were chosen by our judging panel, which included: Heather Beliveau, panelists Mason Daring and Lorre Fritchy, Assistant Chair of Film Scoring Alison Plante, and last year's contest winner and Berklee alumnus Austin Creek.
