2010 Vermont Youth Conservation Corps Internships Available This Spring, Summer and Fall!

Enjoy the outdoors while completing your internship requirement with one of these great opportunities from the Vermont Youth Conservation Corps.

Food and Farm AmeriCorps Intern (mid-March to mid-December).
Farm Interns will participate in all aspects of the VYCC’s 5-acre farm, including maintaining soil health, growing greenhouse seedlings, planting field crops, irrigating, weeding, harvesting, delivering produce, building and repairing new farm infrastructure, and raising livestock.

AmeriCorps Park Educator (April 26-October 22)
This six-month AmeriCorps position is based out of a Vermont State Park or US Forest Service Camp Ground. The Park Educator will be responsible for providing environmental educational programs to park visitors as well as the daily operations and maintenance of a Park.

Park Crew Leaders (April 26-October 22)
Park Crew Leaders are responsible for cultivating a Crew of AmeriCorps Park Corps Members as the Crew takes care of the overall management, day-to-day operations, and maintenance of a Vermont State Park. Must be at least 22 years old to apply.

AmeriCorps Park Crew Members (May 20 – September 10)
This residential opportunity is for individuals who are between the ages of 18 and 24. Park Corps Members will work as part of a crew to run the daily operations and maintenance of a Vermont State Park, while participating in educational discussions and developing land stewardship skills.

Wilderness, Roving and Community Crew Leaders.
Crew Leader positions are for individuals at least 22 years old with previous experience in leadership, outdoor education, and/or completing conservation work. Crew Leaders will be responsible for building a community, ensuring the health and safety of their crew, teaching both life and job skills. Crew Leasers will also be responsible for professionally managing work projects and ensuring high quality standards. Positions beginning in late April and mid May.

Summer Corps Members
Corp member positions are for individuals who are 16-24 years of age. Corps members will worl on small crews completing high-priority conservation projects across Vermont on a Wilderness, Roving, or Community Crew. Each summer, VYCC crews restore trails, streams, historical sites and natural areas. Session 1: June 19-July 18/July 24; Session 2: July 31 – August 29
